Downtown Chandler Art Walk – December 16, Chandler, AZ
Its the Ugly Holiday Sweater Art Walk this Friday at Downtown Chandler! Wear your favorite ugly holiday sweater to this free-to-attend event which features live music by Dimitri Matheny, unique downtown establishments and over 35 local artists showcasing different works of art ranging from painting, photography, glass art, pottery, woodworking, jewelry, metal work, mixed media, accessories, sculptures and more!
Riparian After Dark – December 16 & 17, Gilbert, AZ
Here’s a rare opportunity to appreciate nature while experiencing nighttime at the Riparian Preserve! Join hundreds of luminaries in a stroll around a candle-lit trail with numerous festive light displays at Water Ranch lake. A variety of school choirs, carolers and other live holiday entertainment will also be featured. This event will also benefit a different local non-profit agency for each night of the event, with the Gilbert Fire and Rescue group collecting children’s toys and games on Friday while the House of Refuge collects non-perishable goods and toiletries on Saturday.
Desert Botanical Garden Las Noches de Las Luminarias – December 16-18, 20-23 & 26-31 Phoenix, AZ
A Southwest holiday tradition, the Garden comes glowing to life with over 8000 hand-lit luminaria bags and thousands of white twinkle lights bags! Make the nighttime stroll at the Garden more special with mugs of hot cocoa and warm cider and music from entertainment ensembles!
Somerton Tamale Festival – December 17, Somerton, AZ
The little border town southwest of Yuma is hosting the Woodstock of tamale events! On its 10th year and beginning at 11am, enjoy an all-day event of music, cultural dances, arts & crafts and, of course, a variety of tamales from over 44 vendors: traditional beef and chicken to pork, turkey, corn and spinach tamales, even sweet tamales filled with pineapple, peach and strawberry! Event proceeds will help fund Arizona State University scholarships for local students.
Gilbert Art Walk – December 17, Gilbert, AZ
Come join this family friendly, pet friendly, art show featuring amazing works in painting, jewelry, ceramic, woodworking, photography, plus live music! And with the Gilbert Farmers Market just across the street to this event, you have not one but two Gilbert attractions to check out!
Mesa Arts & Crafts Festival (MACFest) – December 17, Mesa, AZ
Every first and third Saturdays of the month through April, take the opportunity to get to know downtown Mesa with this free event for the public which features unique artist creations, music and fun for the whole family.
Winterhaven Festival of Lights – Everyday until December 26, Tucson, AZ
A holiday event that goes back to 1949, the residents of Winterhaven have hosted the Festival as their gift to the community. Entrance is free while a donation of food or money for the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona is appreciated. Go on foot or make a reservation to tour the lights on a hayride wagon, a bus trolley, a pedal-powered group bike!
